Rippey is a destination town the first Saturday of February every year in Iowa’s premier winter bike ride. The 38th annual BRR – Bike Ride to Rippey – hosted by the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce Saturday, drew about 800 bicyclists.
Five hundred had pre-registered, with another 300 joining in on same-day registration to take advantage of a sunny 40-degree day with mild winds.
The 300 or so residents of Rippey turn out in force to host the bicyclists as the turn-around point of the 20 mile ride. The Rippey fire department, Rippey Lions Club and the Rippey United Methodist Church work together to assure that their guests remember the winter day they spent in Rippey.
